Correspondence between Reuben Rice and his brother William concerning farming and property in South Carolina and correspondence between Agnes Rice and her husband at Camp Butler relating to family matters and the Civil War. Also includes a typescript of a log of the frigate Raritan (1845-1846) kept by midshipman David Coleman, relating to weather conditions and other matters on a cruise to Rio de Janeiro and Vera Cruz.
